When someone comes to the church before they make it to the sanctuary, they should have had at least 4 contacts with someone from the church, at the very least. Parking lot ministry, door greeters, Safety & Security that should be floating near greeters and ushers at the door of the sanctuary. Depending on if they had to go to the nursery/children’s area or other areas, this number should be higher. If it is someone new or someone that possibly causes a level of interest or concern for Safety & Security there should be additional contacts made prior to entry into the sanctuary or just after entering.
After 24 years of data studied, the NO #1 attack trigger is Domestic Violence related, followed by robbery, personal conflicts, mental illness and bias to round out the top 5.
Church leaders have a moral duty to protect their attendees

Do you have the proper medical supplies to handle an injured person, mass injuries, AED, and are they easily accessible? Are they located in the proper areas? Do your staff/volunteers know how to use them and do they retrain/refresh regularly?
